The Buffalo Bills made several defensive additions this offseason, most notably in the secondary. The Bills drafted three defensive backs, including Max Hairston in the first round. But it's a former second-round pick that could be running out of time in just his second season.
Safety Cole Bishop was drafted with the hopes that he would be the future at the position for the team. Instead, injuries have plagued his first year and a half in the NFL, and head coach Sean McDermott didn't mince words when discussing the Utah product on Tuesday.
“Cole has missed quite a bit of time," McDermott said. "It remains to be seen what he is truly able to do for us… We’re getting short on time.”
Bishop appeared in 16 games last year despite missing most of training camp with a nagging injury. That said, he played in just 34 percent of defensive snaps. Should he be slowed down due to injury again, the Bills will have some serious questions to answer sooner than later.
