The Buffalo Bills, perhaps inexplicably, lost to the then 2-7 Miami Dolphins on the road, and in truth, it wasn't close.

A 30-13 loss at Hard Rock Stadium saw the Bills' offense, which has been inconsistent over the past couple of weeks, again struggle through the air, and yes, Josh Allen threw for 306 yards, but anyone watching that game knows they were tough to get.

The game shone a light on the Bills' lack of star power at receiver, but we can look back to last week and see how the offense operated, which makes the Dolphins' performance even more baffling.

And the inconsistency in the passing game is beginning to wear thin on head coach Sean McDermott.

“We've got a great quarterback and you want to be able to move the ball two dimensionally," McDermott said. "We should be able to move the ball with Josh through the air. But it can't just be one phase of your offense. It's got to be two working, in concert with one another. It starts up front, controlling the line of scrimmage early, and that sets up other things.

"So, that's what I look at first is, are we controlling the line of scrimmage, and then how does that set up our passing game? So, they go hand in hand.”

Bills' passing game needs improvement

Clearly, that goes without saying, and many have cited the need for a No.1 receiver as the Bills' biggest issue, and some have even come for general manager Brandon Beane on social media for not giving Allen enough weapons.

But where were those people last week after the Bills beat the Chiefs? Or when the Bills were 4-0?

Yes, things need a drastic improvement, and given the current state of the passing game, do the Bills have the personnel to do it?

Well, they have to have, right?

At 6-3, the season feels a whole lot different than it did a few weeks ago. Buffalo is seeing the division get away from them; it isn't playing good football, and the offense, with an MVP at the helm, can't seem to move the ball down the field.

McDermott is frustrated, and I'd imagine Bills Mafia is too.
