The Buffalo Bills have wrapped up mandatory mini-camp, and there are plenty of battles that began in the spring that will carry over next month once training camp opens in July. One of those battles will be at the quarterback position.
No, not Josh Allen. Of course the MVP is safe from anything and anyone. Rather, the backup spot feels very up for grabs. Mike White had a terrific spring, and Matt Parrino believes that he could take the job from Mitch Trubisky.
"White was better than Trubisky this spring - it’s as simple as that," Parrino writes. "He gets the ball out faster, has more zip on his throws, and is willing to take chances to make plays. White threw a touchdown pass to Jalen Virgil, who was working against rookie cornerback Dorian Strong. The throw was perfectly placed, and Virgil made a great play. Beane said nothing is earned, and White will get an opportunity to compete with Mitch Trubisky for the backup spot this summer."
Trubisky played all but one snap in the team's season finale against the New England Patriots, going 19-of-26 for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Over the previous two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he threw eight touchdowns to 10 interceptions in seven starts. Should White win the No. 2 job over Trubisky, it's very possible the Bills cut the former No. 2 overall pick all together.
