After the ups and downs the Baltimore Ravens had to endure in the 2025 season, their entire year came down to a 44-yard field goal attempt from Tyler Loop in Week 18 to keep their season alive.

After Lamar Jackson had driven the Ravens to the Steelers' 26-yard line with time running out, the score at 26-24, a field goal was set up to send Baltimore to the playoffs as division champs.

Up stepped rookie kicker Loop, who had the entire Ravens season resting on his right boot.

And unfortunately, Tyler's kick sailed far right, and the Ravens' season ended, with the Steelers rolling on to the playoffs.

This game is brutal at times.

“Just for a time like that sucks, I want to do better, and unfortunately, the nature of the job is, you have makes, those are awesome, and unfortunately you have misses,” Loop said. “For that to happen sucks. We've been through a lot of adversity this year as a team early on, we fought, we've worked really hard together, those guys have had my back, and I want to try my best to have theirs.

"It's disappointing, and it sucks, but also the nature of the job is I got to move on, and I got to get ready for the next kick.”

Ravens face uncertain offseason

Thought to be a Super Bowl contender before the season began, to miss out on the playoffs altogether, something has to change.

Another year of failure for Baltimore has some wondering whether this should be the end of the road for John Harbaugh as head coach.

That is certainly a conversation starter, no doubt, and it is one of a host of talks that have to take place over the coming months as the Ravens go through the wreckage that is the 2025 season.

It started horribly and ended just as badly.

Onto 2026 we go.
