The Baltimore Ravens are avoiding complacency.
They saw a talented player available to be signed, and they took their chance.
J.T. Gray is the newest Raven, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Gray is a special teams superstar and was shockingly released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this week. It was not a well-received decision in New Orleans, with star RB Alvin Kamara posting on social media, "Wtf."
Gray had spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Saints.
In 98 total games, he has 103 tackles. In 2024, he played 84.3% of the Saints' special teams snaps.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021. That same season, he was first-team All-Pro.
Gray has also been a second-team All-Pro selection twice, in both 2019 and 2024.
Saints coach Kellen Moore said after the release that it was one of the hardest calls New Orleans had to make this offseason.
Some teams might not view special teams stars as quite as important in the new kickoff rules, but Gray is still one of the best.

Baltimore clearly felt like he could provide a boost.
The Ravens open the season on Sunday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. Given Gray's role, he should be able to get up to speed quickly and be on the field to make plays, as he has done for his whole NFL career.
