The Baltimore Ravens are signing defensive tackle Travis Jones to a three-year extension, per Ian Rapoport. The deal is worth $40.5 million.
"The Ravens and standout DT Travis Jones have reached a 3-year extension worth $40.5M, source said," Rapoport reports on X. "He gets $25M guaranteed."
Jones was drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of UConn. He is in the midst of the best season of his career, registering six tackles for loss, which is a new career high. He is also on pace to set a new career-high in tackles. Additionally, he has 30 run stops and 18 pressures, per Next Gen Stats.
The Ravens are in the midst of an uphill battle toward the AFC playoffs. After a Week 14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ravens sit at 6-7 and don't currently hold a playoff spot. That said, they do control their own destiny, meaning if they win out, they win the AFC North. That said, they have a daunting schedule ahead of them. They travel to Cincinnati in Week 15 to face the Bengals for the second time in three weeks. After that, they have their home finale against the 11-2 New England Patriots before heading to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers and close out in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.
Should the Ravens miss out on the postseason, there could be dramatic changes made to the coaching staff, including perhaps moving on from John Harbaugh.
