Ravens predicted to hire rising defensive coordinator as next head coach image

The Baltimore Ravens will have a new head coach for the first time in 18 years, as the team fired John Harbaugh after an underwhelming 2025 campaign without a playoff appearance.

With Harbaugh out the door, Baltimore will kickstart a new era with a new face as head coach. The 2026 cycle has many intriguing coaching candidates, but Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox predicts the Ravens will hire Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

Here is what Knox had to say about Minter and his potential fit in Baltimore.

"It should surprise no one if the Ravens opt for another young coach who can potentially lead the franchise for the better part of two decades. Given the team's defensive struggles over the past couple of seasons, a coach with a defensive background might also be preferred."

Minter did a fantastic job with the Chargers' defense this year, leading the unit to a top-10 scoring finish with the fifth-best passing defense.

Baltimore has a history of defensive coaches, but Minter would represent a fresh approach while still aligning with the culture of the franchise. Before arriving in Los Angeles, Minter was the defensive coordinator of the National Championship-winning Michigan Wolverines.

Minter would be a nice fit with the Ravens and could form a solid relationship with quarterback Lamar Jackson. He would be a fantastic hire by Baltimore, but there are more experienced options on the market.
