The NFL is a results business, and when teams don't get the right ones, changes come, and for the Baltimore Ravens, that change was needed.

With John Harbaugh fired after 18 years, the Ravens will now become one of the most sought-after positions in football, simply due to the chance to coach Lamar Jackson.

Plus, the new head coach won't be taking over a bottom team. Baltimore has talent on both sides of the ball to challenge for the Super Bowl.

And for owner Steve Bisciotti, he's made a rather outlandish statement on the runway that the new head coach would get to bring that Super Bowl to Baltimore.

"Well, it took Bill [Belichick] two years, John [Harbaugh] five, maybe I'll give this guy six,” a laughing Bisciotti said. “I hope we pick the kind of guy that's going to get us there. I think we have a roster that's capable of it. I think we have a GM that's capable of making that roster better on the fly.

"I'll be patient to that point. I'd probably give him five or six years as long as I like everything else I see in him.”

New Ravens head coach will get time

Having an owner who is willing to be that patient isn't something we often see.

Aaron Glenn with the New York Jets had his job security questioned after just one season.

But one thing that the new Ravens head coach will get is time to get it done. We don't often see that, and given Baltimore's roster, this team will be expected to be in the playoffs in 2026.

So, while there is plenty of runway to get that Super Bowl trophy, there will still be some sort of pressure.

But not initially, and the fact that Bisciotti jokingly said he'd give the new head coach five or six years is certainly something not many franchises do.
