Ravens legend announces NFL retirement on his 33rd birthday image

After 33 years of a football life, C.J. Mosley is moving on.

The former Baltimore Ravens superstar linebacker told CBS Sports that his NFL career is over. The announcement came on Thursday, which is Mosley's 33rd birthday.

Mosley concluded his NFL career with the Jets, but it was in Baltimore where he took the football world by storm.

Even as a rookie, he had 133 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions. In his five seasons and 77 games with the Ravens, Mosley totaled 579 tackles, nine interceptions and 8.5 sacks.

He then played five years with the Jets, another 56 games with 504 tackles.

An injury-plagued 2024 (four games, 17 tackles) was a sad way for Mosley to go out, but that's what he's decided for himself.

In his NFL career in total, Mosley had 1,083 tackles. He averaged more than 100 per season despite having two campaigns in which he played four and two games.

Baltimore picked Mosley with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Full name Clint Mosley Jr., he was a sideline-to-sideline linebacker who also packed a strong thump.

Mosley was a two-time national champion with the Crimson Tide in college, too.

It's been quite a football career for Mosley, who chose to celebrate his birthday by hanging up his spikes for good.
