The Baltimore Ravens are in danger of not having quarterback Lamar Jackson this week thanks to a hamstring injury.
A report from The Baltimore Sun's Brian Wacker revealed that Jackson is likely to miss the Week 5 game versus the Houston Texans, and Jackson could miss two to three weeks in total.
So far this week, Jackson is off to a bad start. ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported that Jackson was not on the practice field on Wednesday. The Ravens will release their first injury report of the week later in the day.
"Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely to miss Sunday’s game against the visiting Houston Texans with a hamstring injury, two sources with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday," Wacker wrote. "Given the nature of the injury, he also could be out for up to 2-3 weeks, one of the sources said."
The good news for the Ravens is that the team has a bye in Week 7, so even if the superstar quarterback is out all three weeks, he will only miss two games.
That said, the Ravens can't afford to lose Jackson for even one game given the fact they are off to a 1-3 start. Following their Week 5 game against Houston, the Ravens draw a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
As Jackson recovers, backup quarterback Cooper Rush will take the reins of the offense. Rush was 9-of-13 for 52 yards on Sunday in place of Jackson.
Rush has shown flashes of being a capable backup in the past, but he still amounts to a massive downgrade for a Ravens team that certainly cannot afford one.
