It's hard to question the Ravens' track record under John Harbaugh, which includes a Super Bowl win and 12 playoff appearances, but one issue refuses to go away for Baltimore.
The Ravens' late-game collapse against the Bills is the latest blown double-digit lead under Harbaugh, extending a pattern that is becoming difficult to ignore even as the winning seasons pile up in Baltimore.
While Derrick Henry's fumble has much more to do with the Ravens' defeat in Buffalo than anything Harbaugh did or didn't do, the "Sunday Night Football" shocker was far from an outlier.
Here's a look at the Ravens' blown leads under Harbaugh over the years.

Ravens history of blown leads
The Ravens were one fourth down stop away from effectively sealing the game on Sunday night and walking out of Highmark Stadium with a statement win, but instead they left with this piece of history: Harbaugh recorded his 17th blown double-digit lead in the second half, more than any coach since at least 1991.
Of course, most coaches don't stick around for nearly two decades like Harbaugh has, but the pattern has been particularly evident since the start of the 2022 season.

Since 2022, Harbaugh and the Ravens have blown eight double-digit leads, including but not limited to the second half. Here is the full list:
Season | Opponent | Blown lead |
2025 | Bills | 15 points |
2024 | Raiders | 10 points |
2023 | Browns | 15 points |
2023 | Steelers | 10 points |
2022 | Steelers | 10 points |
2022 | Giants | 10 points |
2022 | Bills | 17 points |
2022 | Dolphins | 21 points |
Remarkably, the Ravens still have a regular season record of 35-17 since the start of the 2022 season. Nearly half of those losses included a blown double-digit lead. The expectation shouldn't necessarily be that a team never blows a double-digit lead, but a highly successful team averaging multiple blown double-digit leads per season is highly unusual.
After the Ravens lost to the Raiders in 2024, Harbaugh told reporters, "the fact that you have so many leads in the fourth quarter probably lends itself to, you're going to lose more leads than most teams." The Bills, however, have lost only three double-digit leads since 2022, while the Chiefs have lost only one, paling in comparison to Baltimore's eight.

John Harbaugh coaching record
Harbaugh has a career record of 172-105 as head coach of the Ravens. 17 of those 105 losses included a blown double-digit lead in the second half.
W | L | Pct. | |
Regular season | 172 | 105 | .621 |
Playoffs | 13 | 11 | .542 |
By and large, the Harbaugh era in Baltimore has been a rousing success. Most head coaches don't even last a fraction of the 18 years he has spent in purple, and even fewer bring home a Lombardi Trophy. Harbaugh's seat seems cool as the Ravens pursue a championship, but more results like Sunday night's could turn public opinion against him.

How long has John Harbaugh coached the Ravens?
Harbaugh was hired by the Ravens in 2008 and is in his 18th season as the team's head coach. Only one NFL head coach has been with his current team longer: Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who took over the reins in Pittsburgh in 2007.
Of his 17 full seasons, Harbaugh has only posted a losing record twice. The Ravens transitioned seamlessly from Joe Flacco to Lamar Jackson in 2018, returning to the playoffs in Jackson's rookie season and morphing into a force in the AFC in the years that followed. Another Super Bowl appearance is next on the Ravens' wishlist under Harbaugh.
