Is Kyle Pitts playing today? Latest injury update on Falcons TE for Week 18 image

When the Atlanta Falcons take the field in Week 18 against the New Orleans Saints in a game that will decide the NFC South, they are hoping to have the services of tight end Kyle Pitts.

Pitts is dealing with a knee injury and was only able to log three limited practices over the course of the week before being labeled questionable to play on Friday.

Nothing has changed since then, so Pitts is carrying the questionable tag into Sunday afternoon.

However, there is optimism that he will suit up.

Is Kyle Pitts playing today?

Yes, the expectation is Pitts will play today after head coach Raheem Morris expressed optimism that he would suit up during the week.

"Still, head coach Raheem Morris expressed optimism that the trio would be available for the Falcons this Sunday despite their questionable status," Tori McElhaney of the team's official website wrote.

The trio McElhaney mentions is Pitts and wide receivers Drake London and Darnell Mooney, all of whom are questionable.

Despite a Week 18 win over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not yet clinched the division title.

That's because the Bucs still need the Falcons to lose on Sunday in order to avoid a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South that would favor the Panthers via tie-breaker. If the Falcons lose or tie, the Bucs are in.

It's a truly wild scenario, but we've come to expect such crazy things from the NFC South.
