John Parker Romo's debut for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night was flawless. But the kicker admitted there's still some homework to be done off the field: learning the names of his new teammates.
Romo, promoted from the Falcons' practice squad just a day before the 22-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, made an immediate impact by converting all five field goals and earning Player of the Game honors. However, during a lighthearted postgame interview on NBC, Romo admitted he didn't know linebacker Leonard Floyd. The kicker did say he knew running back Bijan Robinson, who was also present for the interview.
Then, NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark stepped in to introduce Floyd to Romo, prompting the kicker to jokingly reply, "Nice to meet you."

This is hilarious: The #Falcons just signed K John Parker Romo last week and he went 5/5 on FGs and was named Player of the Game alongside Leonard Floyd.

One problem: He had no idea who Leonard Floyd was.

Romo's ascent to the starting job came after kicker Younghoe Koo struggled early this season, missing a critical 44-yard attempt in the Falcons' Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After working out multiple kickers, the Falcons brought Romo in to compete and quickly elevated him to active roster status.
After the game, Romo said, "First off, I want to say, like, I'm truly grateful for the Minnesota Vikings for taking me in last year. And it's God's timing that I'm here back on the field. It's God's timing. That's all it is. And I'm just blessed. And we're going to take it and run with it, 24-hour rule, and let's keep going."
