The Atlanta Falcons provided an injury update on on wide receiver Drake London on Wednesday and it amounts to huge news for his chances of suiting up in Week 16.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris noted that London would indeed return to practice on Wednesday.

"Falcons coach Raheem Morris told reporters that WR Drake London, who has missed the last several games with a PCL sprain, will practice today," Rapoport reported. "A sign that he could play Sunday."

With London returning to practice, it is the first time he has taken part since he came down with a PCL injury in Week 11. That is a clear sign that London has a shot to play this week.

Of course, the Falcons have nothing to play for after being eliminated from playoff contention, so it wouldn't have been surprising to see Atlanta shut London down.

However, Morris may also be fighting for his job with the Falcons, so there was at least some motivation to get London back.

Prior to his injury, London was well on his way to posting a career-best season, as he was averaging a personal best 90 yards per contest over nine games.

Sitting at 810 yards entering Week 16, London should still eclipse 1,000 yards, but he is unlikely to hit his career-high of 1,271.

London's return is a big lift for the Falcons' offense, but it could negatively impact tight end Kyle Pitts, who posted a career-best performance in Week 15. Before that, Pitts had been red hot, ripping off 13 catches for 172 yards in the two games prior.

With the Falcons playing on Sunday this week, we could get confirmation on London's status as early as Friday.
