Marvin Harrison Jr., the Arizona Cardinals' No. 1 receiver, is off to a rough start in the 2025 season. Following a shaky performance in Thursday night's 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he is facing increased criticism.
Former running back and analyst Damien Harris described Harrison as "timid" with a lack of confidence. On CBS, he said, "Marvin Harrison Jr., my brother, you are the No. 1 receiver for Kyler Murray. ... But at times it seems like you are a liability."
He questioned Harrison's mental toughness, suggesting the pressure of being a first-round pick might be affecting his performance.
In the game, Harrison caught six passes for 66 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. However, his early struggles overshadowed that moment. Harrison dropped a crucial slant pass in the second quarter that was intercepted by Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones.
Harris added:
"You have to be a guy who's always open. You have to be a guy who's available and can run every route in the route tree. You can't be a liability when you're out there. And at times it seems like that's what it is for Marvin Harrison Jr."
Harrison's inconsistency is a central issue for the Cardinals right now. The team stands firmly behind their top receiver, but the pressure is on him to get back on track. He's got to find his rhythm soon and make sure he doesn't turn into a "liability."
