The Texas Longhorns will have to wait a little longer to see Emmett Mosley V, one of their top additions from the transfer portal, back on the field. The sophomore wide receiver will miss his second consecutive game as Texas host the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday.
On Friday, ESPN's Pete Thamel tweeted:
"Sources: Texas wide receiver Emmett Mosley V is expected to miss his second-straight game, as he's nursing a lower-body injury. He's a Stanford transfer who led ACC freshmen in receptions last year with 48."
Mosley, a transfer from Stanford, is nursing a leg injury and missed Texas' 14-7 season-opening loss to Ohio State.
On Wednesday, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian hinted that Mosley's return is getting closer.
"We're monitoring that closely," Sarkisian said of Mosley. "I think if he does go Saturday, it'll be on a limited basis, but we'll see.
"Again, I'm not in a rush with him, because when we get him out there, I want to make sure that he's healthy. So, I'm going to lean into our training staff on what that looks like for Emmett. I know he's chomping at the bit to get out there, and I know we're excited to get him out there, but that remains to be seen."
Mosley missing his second straight game indicates the Longhorns are taking a cautious approach and won't rush his return.
On Saturday, No. 7 Texas (0-1) hosts San Jose State (0-1) at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium at 12 p.m. ET.
