Any good rivalry will bring out the best and worst in any scenario. In the heated rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners, there no love lost for the longtime foes.

Texas didn’t waste time trolling No. 6 Oklahoma after a dominant 23-6 victory in Saturday’s Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl.

Ryan Niblett delivered the knockout blow with a 75-yard punt return touchdown in the fourth quarter, sealing the Longhorns’ statement win. Arch Manning turned in his most complete performance yet, throwing for 166 yards and a score as Texas’ offense controlled the tempo after halftime.

The Longhorns’ defense stifled Oklahoma throughout, holding the Sooners to 258 total yards and intercepting quarterback John Mateer three times. The Sooners QB returned after having hand surgery 17 days prior. Texas outscored OU 20-0 in the second half to turn a tight rivalry clash into a one-sided affair.

“We learned how to fight today,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said. “We saw the true character of the men in that locker room.”

After the win, Texas took to social media for some lighthearted trolling. The program posted a photo of the Golden Hat trophy paired with the caption “Ain’t No Hat in Oklahoma,” referencing Luke Combs' hit song featured in the "Twisters" movie and a clear jab at the Sooners.

The Longhorns also mocked Oklahoma’s official Instagram page, jokingly submitting a “report” that accused the Sooners’ account of “pretending to be a good football team.”

Texas keeps their College Football Playoff hopes alive for now and sit at No. 21 in the lastest AP rankings. The Longhorns also take home the Golden Hat for a second straight year.
