Arch Manning underwent offseason surgery with good news on the horizon image

The Texas Longhorns had a decent 2025 that still fell short of expectations. 2026 is likely to feel like playoffs or bust.

Steve Sarkisian and the recruiting staff also added some key additions to the offense. The top non quarterback portal target WR Cam Coleman joins a short list of impressive transfers.

OT Melvin Siani (Wake Forest), RB Hollywood Smothers (NC State), RB Raleek Brown (Arizona State) all entered the transfer portal and chose Texas.

The University of Texas announced on Friday that Manning underwent “minor foot surgery” earlier this week. According to Yahoo Sports, the operation was a “preventative measure to address a previous injury”.

Manning will be limited in off-season workouts. However, the program expects him to be back to full speed at some point during Spring Ball.

Manning threw for 3,163 yards on 62% passing with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions in his first full year as the starting quarterback in Austin. 2025 was a season of moderate inconsistency.

Manning threw five interceptions in the first five weeks. The Longhorns also went 3-2 over that stretch losing to Ohio State and Florida. After week 5 Manning’s play and the on-field results improved. Resulting in Manning throwing 15 touchdowns to only two interceptions over the next eight games.

What this means going forward 

Manning was awarded the Citrus Bowl MVP with their win over Michigan.

Manning and Texas should expect to hear their names associated with most offseason, too early predictions. In addition, Manning will be included in various 2027 NFL Draft and 2026 Heisman conversations.

Texas fans can breathe easy as the procedure was preventative and Manning should be 100% healthy and ready to play with no limitations by the Texas Spring Game.
