Arch Manning's odd high school stats: Underwhelming numbers at Isidore Newman preceded Texas QB career image

Arch Manning has the last name, of course.

He was also regarded as a top-notch high school quarterback recruit, which wasn't hurt by the famous football family but was also helped by Arch's phenomenal talent.

But that's all part of what makes it a bit odd to go look back at Arch's high school stats at Isidore Newman. For a guy with his hype level, the numbers have just a bit of an air of "meh" to them.

High school statistics are far from the only indicator of future success, of course. But as Arch plays in his first season as the Texas Longhorns' starting QB, it's worth taking a trip back to check them out.

These aren't bad numbers by any means. But Manning's status as a generational QB prospect had more to do with his traits than his stats.

For reference, uncle Peyton threw for 2,703 yards and 39 TDs as an Isidore Newman senior in 1993.

Newman plays other small private schools, also not regarded as the best competition available in New Orleans by any means.
