The Texas Tech Red Raiders have done everything they can to give Jacob Rodriguez the spotlight.
That includes playing the linebacker at quarterback.
That's right: Rodriguez has taken QB snaps for Texas Tech. He has even run in a touchdown.
It came against UCF:

Why does Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez play QB?
Texas Tech has used Rodriguez at QB in part for Heisman conversations.
This late in the season, that's likely out the window, but the Red Raiders want Rodriguez to get his proper due.
Rodriguez was also a high school quarterback and a great athlete, so it's not a totally crazy idea to figure out other ways to use him.
The Red Raiders have a pretty darn good starting QB, Behren Morton, so don't expect Rodriguez to take the job anytime soon.
But to see him out there for a play or two even as the postseason approaches? It's still in play, because it can work.
