Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt is set to visit a Big 12 rival as his recruitment accelerates early in the NCAA transfer window.

Leavitt is scheduled to visit Texas Tech Red Raiders, according to On3's Pete Nakos. He also took a visit to Kentucky over the weekend. He quickly emerged as one of the most coveted players to enter the portal, and is expected to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks during this cycle.

A two-year starter at Arizona State, Leavitt helped lead the program to the College Football Playoff in 2024 before injuries limited him in 2025. Over his first two seasons in Tempe, he threw for 2,885 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 443 rushing yards and five scores.

In seven games last season, he passed for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions and rushed for 300 yards and five more scores.Leavitt began his college career at Michigan State, preserving a redshirt and leaving him with two years of eligibility.

Texas Tech is coming off a 12-2 season and a Big 12 championship, riding one of the nation’s top defenses to a College Football Playoff berth before falling to the Oregon Ducks in the Orange Bowl.
