The Pittsburgh Steelers had an exciting Week 1 victory over the New York Jets. Newly acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers passed for the most touchdowns by a Steelers quarterback since 2020, and Chris Boswell sealed the victory with the longest field goal in franchise history.
However, the Steelers' defense struggled to stop Justin Fields and the Jets' running game, allowing 182 rushing yards in the game.
After recent reports, Pittsburgh could be getting its 2025 first-round pick back. Possibly helping fix their problems in stopping the run.
Steelers' Derrick Harmon: "There is a chance" he returns in Week 2
The Pittsburgh Steelers will turn towards a Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, and the team could be getting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon back for the matchup.
"Harmon is expected to begin working this week, and there is a chance he could return as soon as this Sunday’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks," Alan Saunders of SteelersNOW reported.
Although a Week 2 return is possible, Saunders mentioned that it's more likely Harmon's NFL debut will more likely happen in Week 3 against the New England Patriots.
Harmon, 22, was the Steelers' first-round pick (No. 21 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Oregon. His breakout 2024 season with the Ducks, where he had 45 total tackles, two passes defended, five sacks, and two forced fumbles, was what made Pittsburgh interested.
If the Steelers have to wait another week for Harmon to return, expect veteran Isaiahh Loudermilk to get the start in Week 2.
