The Denver Broncos suffered a gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of their division rivals on Sunday, losing on a last-second field goal to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix made plays and did his best to keep his team in the game, but the former Oregon Duck missed a few throws that would've kept Denver ahead, including missing a wide-open Courtland Sutton late in the fourth quarter.

While some may point the finger at Nix for the loss, the Broncos locker room certainly is not.

J.K. Dobbins Defends Bo Nix After Tough Loss

Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins spoke to the media following the loss and said that it was not on Nix. When a reporter began to ask about the former Oregon standouts' missed throws, Dobbins cut them off almost immediately.

"Nah, he ain’t miss no throws. He ain’t miss no throws. He played a great game," Dobbins said via Luca Evans of the Denver Post.

"And we got his back, I got his back. He’s a great quarterback. It’s a team game. We lost as a team. It’s not on him. Guys gotta — I gotta make more plays for him."

Regardless of the veteran running back's words, it's hard not to notice Denver's slow start compared to how they ended the 2024 season. Nix has not resembled the quarterback who led the Broncos to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

It's only been three games, and there is plenty of time for a turnaround, but we may be seeing a sophomore slump from the former 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
