A viral fake tweet briefly sent Oregon fans into a frenzy this week, raising questions about whether Dylan Raiola had already entered the NCAA transfer portal again — even though the highly touted quarterback only recently arrived in Eugene.

Raiola, a former five-star recruit who transferred from Nebraska Cornhuskers, signed with the Oregon Ducks before fellow quarterback Dante Moore announced he would return for the 2026 season. That timing fueled speculation about Raiola’s long-term future and whether he would accept a backup role.

Those rumors intensified when parody account @ShaneTuttleNCAA on X falsely claimed Raiola had entered the portal again just 48 hours after transferring. The post spread quickly before being debunked, with no credible reports indicating Raiola plans to leave Oregon.

However, the expectation is that Raiola will back up Moore in 2026 and compete to become the full-time starter in 2027 under coach Dan Lanning, assuming the plan stays intact.

Moore’s return also carries NFL implications, particularly for quarterback-needy teams such as the New York Jets, who may have hoped Moore would enter the draft. In 2025, Moore totaled 3,721 yards and 32 touchdowns while leading Oregon to a 12-2 record and a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance.

While on ESPN's SportsCenter, Moore praised Raiola’s competitiveness and welcomed him to the quarterback room. Raiola has two seasons of eligibility remaining after appearing in 22 games over his first two collegiate seasons.
