The Cleveland Browns enter the season with one of the more interesting quarterback rooms across the NFL.
They have 40-year-old veteran Joe Flacco as the starter, and former Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel is solidified as QB2. Gabriel won the backup job over Colorado's Shedeur Sanders throughout training camp and the preseason.
According to one Browns insider, Flacco may not see too many starts as the organization is reportedly very high on their 2025 third-round pick.
Browns Reportedly High on Dillon Gabriel
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com recently appeared on 92.3 The Fan to discuss the Browns' quarterback situation and who may get reps throughout the season. She revealed that Cleveland's brass is excited about their young Oregon Duck.
"I don't know if (Flacco) has even as much as half of a season...I think they are extremely excited about Dillon Gabriel and what he brings to the table." Cabot said.
"I think they believe that there is something to Dillon Gabriel and that he's got enough savvy and enough poise to go out there and function efficiently with this offense even early on this season."
If what Cabot is saying is true, then Flacco is going to have to be at the top of his game to stave off Gabriel from overtaking him as Cleveland's starting quarterback.
The Oregon product shone throughout the preseason for the Browns, completing 25 of 37 passes for a touchdown and an interception. He displayed his ability to operate Kevin Stefanski's offense and fought through adversity, including two turnovers.
Gabriel may see the field sooner than anyone expected when he was selected with the 94th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
