Todd McShay believes the Lane Kiffin coaching saga may be entering its home stretch with a decision on the horizon.
The former ESPN college football analyst said his early-week prediction that Kiffin would remain at Ole Miss has shifted. As of today, McShay said he now expects Kiffin to become the next head coach at LSU.
“On Monday, I thought he was going back to Ole Miss,” McShay said on his latest podcast. “I no longer think that’s the case. I think he will be the next head coach at LSU.”
LSU has emerged as the strongest contender if Kiffin leaves Oxford. This comes as Florida’s pursuit appears to be losing steam with interest running dry. However, McShay cautioned that nothing is settled and the situation remains fluid, especially with Kiffin’s high-profile persona fueling public speculation.
Kiffin is courting attention and is more family-focused and player-first than many realize. “Family matters more to him now than it ever has,” McShay added.
Kiffin wants the spotlight to stay on his players as the Rebels close their season in the Egg Bowl and likely playoff run amid the noise.
