Brett Favre believes Ole Miss has all the pieces to make a national championship run.

On Monday’s episode of his 4th and Favre podcast, the Hall of Fame quarterback praised Lane Kiffin’s Rebels, calling them “built to contend for a national championship.” Favre explained how the team’s balance makes them a complete contender.

“Ole Miss, they could easily win it all,” Favre said. “They’re playing great. They’re well coached. Got some dynamite players. They got a little spunk about them.”

This comes after Ole Miss shutout The Citadel 49-0 on Saturday for a tune up before jumping back to SEC play. Another statement performance from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns. Rebels running back Kewan Lacy tied the school’s single-season rushing touchdown record with 16. He's also 88 yards shy of his first 1,000-yard campaign.

Kiffin praised his team’s focus in a game that could have been overlooked. “Our guys came prepared,” he said. But the Rebels are headed toward unfamiliar territory in the midst of their first-ever College Football Playoff berth being possible.

With a No. 6 ranking and momentum building, Ole Miss heads to Vanderbilt on Saturday night firmly in the conversation to host a Playoff game on campus.
