Archie Manning has words for Lane Kiffin after LSU exit image

Ole Miss legend Archie Manning delivered a rebuke of former Rebels coach Lane Kiffin in a way only he could pull off.

After Kiffin’s abrupt departure for LSU, he criticized the manner in which he exited Oxford just days before the College Football Playoff in a Cameo request for a fan.

Needless to say, Manning didn’t hold back and used his platform. “I think we’re going to do great in the playoffs without our narcissistic, jerk coach,” Manning said, adding that he hoped the Rebels would be fine without the drama.

Kiffin’s exit left the program in a tough spot. He reportedly issued a “my way or the highway” ultimatum to his assistant coaches and then allowed them to return to help Ole Miss in the Playoff.

The Manning family’s connection to the program only amplified the sting, with Archie and son Eli among the most revered figures in school history. Not to mention, there's a reason why Arch Manning went to Texas and didn't want to be at Ole Miss with Kiffin.

Ole Miss achieved a program-best 11 wins during this year's run, which places them as a No. 6 seed in the CFP before defensive coordinator Pete Golding stepped in as head coach. While some defend Kiffin’s decision as a business move, his continued social media commentary is notable.

Ole Miss hosts Tulane in the CFP’s first round in two weeks.
