It was already going to be tough sledding for the UCLA Bruins on Saturday in their Big Ten football clash with Ohio State.

But it won't be any easier after the injury news that has been reported about UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava.

Iamaleava, of course, was Tennessee's QB in the College Football Playoff a season ago against the Buckeyes.

After an offseason transfer saga, Iamaleava wound up with the Bruins, where things have not been particularly smooth.

And on Saturday, Iamaleava won't even get the chance to take the field against Ohio State.

Why isn't Nico Iamaleava playing today?

Nico Iamaleava is out injured for Saturday's matchup with Ohio State.

He has a concussion, according to On3 Sports.

"Iamaleava suffered the concussion in last week’s loss against Nebraska, but concussion symptoms didn’t surface until after the game, a source said," On3's Brett McMurphy writes.

This season, Iamaleava has 1,659 passing yards, 12 TDs and seven INTs. He has run for 474 yards and four touchdowns.

UCLA is expected to start backup Luke Duncan, a sophomore. The Bruins are 3-6.
