There's a lot of suspense surrounding the kicker position for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Jayden Fielding ended the season with multiple crucial misses, but he's out of eligibility, so his time at OSU is done regardless.

Jackson Courville was the backup this season, a strong-legged transfer from Ball State who didn't get to attempt a single field goal with the Buckeyes.

Courville, though, has entered the transfer portal:

Ohio State's former WR star Garrett Wilson even posted on social media earlier this week that the Buckeyes need to be prioritizing kicker.

They have extended a scholarship offer to one of the top kicking recruits in the country, Jacobo Echeverria:

The Buckeyes likely wouldn't pin all their kicking hopes for 2026 on a true freshman, though, so expect them to explore the transfer portal, too.

Ohio State may enter next season as the favorite to win the national championship. It's important for OSU to end up with the right kicker to help them get over the finish line.
