Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith breaks silence on entering transfer portal rumors image

The Ohio State football season ended earlier than the Buckeyes wanted.

After winning the national championship a year ago, the quarterfinals were the ending for OSU this time around.

That has pushed player decisions into the spotlight.

On Tuesday, for example, Carnell Tate was reported to be entering the NFL Draft.

But there's another thing looming: Jeremiah Smith and these transfer portal rumors.

There didn't appear to be any foundation to the social media idea that Smith might transfer, but it started percolating anyway.

It was out there enough that Smith took to X on Tuesday night to shut it all down. This is what he posted:

That's gotta be music to the ears of Ohio State fans.

Smith was the best wide receiver in the country as a freshman.

He was the best wide receiver in the country as a sophomore.

That'll be true again in his junior season, almost certainly, before he is likely the top WR picked in the 2027 NFL Draft.

The Buckeyes will mount a great case for Smith (or his QB Julian Sayin) to win the Heisman Trophy next season, too.

He's that special, and he's not going anywhere.
