Week 13 delivered its share of drama across college football.
But the biggest winner was Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love, who exploded for 171 yards and three touchdowns on three carries in a 70-7 routing of Syracuse. He reminded voters his Heisman case remains intact in the final weeks.
One question emerged from the Irish's 63-point thrashing. Did they move the needle in the playoff conversation? Most would say yes, though not decisively. This is due to the Orange being hampered with injuries. The dominant nature of the win, and the explosive performance by Love, generated positive momentum. Not to mention, Notre Dame's offense didn't see the field until it was 21-0.
But with two losses on the resume and the strength of their schedule is under scrutiny, The Irish may be back in the conversation, but one blowout doesn’t erase the record.
For Love, he'll be on the minds of voters with 185 carries for 1,306 yards and 17 touchdowns.
