Bill Belichick's mid-season report isn't a good one.
The North Carolina Tar Heels coach has no Power Four wins with the latest loss at the hands of Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. The 2-3 start for the six-time Super Bowl Champion coach has sparked many reactions on social media. There was even one fake post that went viral claiming Belichick was fired by UNC.
While there's no truth behind the so-called report, the masses got tripped up believing Big Bill was on his way out of Chapel Hill.

Was Bill Belichick fired from UNC?
As of Oct. 6, 2025, Belichick has not been fired from UNC.
Many on social media believe UNC moved on from Belichick following the team's loss to Clemson because of a viral post on Instagram.
"Bill Belichick has been relieved of his duties as head coach of North Carolina, effective immediately," the post read. “'It’s clear at this point that Tom Brady was literally his entire career, and that he’s probably one of the worst coaches in football if he never cheated every single game at New England,' stated University President James T. Kimmel."
The satirical post was nearly a copy-and-paste job from earlier in the season, when TCU ruined Belichick's grand entrance into the college coaching ranks.
Nonetheless, North Carolina is in the midst of a slump.
MORE: Bill Belichick buyout, contract details as North Carolina Tar Heels coach
It's not going to get any better this week with the Tar Heels headed to Cal for a late 10:30 ET start. The coast-to-coast trip will be draining and will likely bring more criticism if Belichick can't pick up his first ACC win.
The Tar Heels only have one ranked team left on the schedule in the final seven games (No. 19 Virginia on Oct. 25). But one bright side is they'll only leave the state of North Carolina once after the trip to Berkeley.
UNC signed Belichick to a five-year contract worth $50 million before the 2025 season. The terms of his contract included guaranteed money for the first three years.
Belichick's UNC bonus structure includes performance-based incentives up to $1.75 million, according to The Athletic. Additionally, he can earn bonuses for academic success, such as achieving team GPAs of 3.0 or higher, as well as for coach of the year awards and final CFP rankings.
