A key piece of Bill Belichick’s rebuilt North Carolina defense is on the move. Linebacker Khmori House plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He's the fourth Tar Heels player to announce portal intentions this season.

House arrived in Chapel Hill last offseason after transferring from Washington and quickly emerged as one of UNC’s most reliable defenders.

He posted a team-high 78 tackles, adding a sack, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and an interception on his way to All-ACC honorable mention honors. As a true freshman with the Huskies in 2023, he played in all 12 regular-season games and recorded 35 tackles.

The departure is another setback for a program that saw massive roster turnover following Mack Brown’s firing and Belichick’s arrival. UNC added 42 transfers last offseason, but finished just 4-8, dropping their final three games to miss bowl eligibility.

House, a former four-star recruit from St. John Bosco (Calif.), moves on with one year on the books in Chapel Hill. He'll have two years of eligibility left at his next stop.
