In just two years as a college player, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has lit up the stat sheet. He’s accounted for more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of his two seasons as a Buckeye starter and has helped OSU reach back-to-back College Football Playoffs.

Smith has become a household name in Buckeye Nation, but what should fans know about his pre–Ohio State career?

Where is Jeremiah Smith from? 

Jeremiah Smith was born on Nov. 29, 2005 in Miami Gardens, Fla, just a few miles away from Hard Rock Stadium He played high school football in nearby Hollywood, Fla., which sits roughly 10 miles northeast of Miami Gardens.

Smith is the cousin of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith, who was born in nearby Miramar, Fla. 

Jeremiah Smith high school 

Smith attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School, a private Marianist school in Hollywood. The school won four consecutive state titles from 2021-2024 and is known for producing football talent. 

The school boasts a number of former alumni that went on to have successful football careers, such as placekicker Andres Borregales, receivers Marquise Brown and Cary Williams, as well as NFL coach David Shula. 

Smith was also an impressive track athlete in high school, winning the FHSAA Class 2A state championship in the 110- and the 400-meter hurdles in his junior year.

Smith has an impressive few seasons at Chaminade-Madonna. In Smith's senior season at Chaminade-Madonna, he was named an All-American.

Jeremiah Smith recruiting 

Smith was a highly-touted recruit out of the state of Florida. Per 247Sports, he was the No. 1 overall recruit nationally, in addition to being the top-ranked receiver and prospect out of the state of Florida for 2024. 

He received offers from nearly every major power-conference school, including Texas, LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Miami and Georgia. He announced his commitment to the Buckeyes in Dec. 2022, and remained committed until his signing in Dec. 2023.
