Virginia QB Chandler Morris exits after hard hit vs. Wake Forest image

Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris was ruled out of the No. 14 Cavaliers' game against Wake Forest on Saturday night.

Morris took a hard hit while sliding to complete a run play in the second quarter. He was immediately taken to the locker room and returned to the sideline in street clothes.

UVA head coach Tony Elliott said he seemed like Morris was "doing alright," but added that they should know more on his status with more testing this week:

A tough blow for Virginia who ended up losing 16-9 with backup quarterback Daniel Kaelin leading the rest of the way. The Nebraska transfer has played in multiple games this season. He finished going 18-of-28 for 145 yards.

Morris was just 3-of-6 for 19 yards and had 6 yards rushing before leaving the game.

With the loss, UVA now moves back in the crazy ACC tiebreaking scenario with six one-loss teams. Georgia Tech and Virginia sit on top, with Pitt, SMU, Louisville, and Duke all behind them in the conference standings.
