Villanova trailed 14-0 in the blink of an eye.
But the Wildcats never wavered.
And so on Saturday in an FCS Playoffs quarterfinal against Tarleton State, 'Nova found its way back, all the way back, and then held on late.
The final: Villanova 26, Tarleton State 21.
Villanova opened the postseason with a win over Harvard. Then the 12-seed Wildcats upset 5-seed Lehigh. Now, they upset the 4-seed Texans.
It's on to the national semifinals.
Villanova is up to 12 wins this season. The Wildcats haven't had that many since 2009, which was a magical year for the Wildcats on the gridiron: They won the national championship that season.
It nearly was a different outcome. Tarleton State was about a toe away from catching a go-ahead touchdown late in the contest. Villanova would've gotten one more drive, but from behind.
Instead, the Wildcats needed just one first down to end it. They went to two run-pass options that both turned into solid completions to put the game away.
The FCS tournament feels more wide open than it has in years, because a week ago, Illinois State stunned No. 1 overall seed North Dakota State.
Who's betting against the Wildcats right now?
