Vanderbilt is ready to play.

The odds of it happening? Not high.

But the Commodores want to find a way into the College Football Playoff, and the only way they'll likely do that is by adding one more marquee victory in an added game on the weekend.

And the only way for Vandy to play a 13th game is to play it in Hawaii or Alaska, per NCAA rules.

Vandy beat writer Alaina Morris shared this from Wednesday's media availability:

"Clark Lea said yesterday he told his team to have their bags packed in case a team wanted to play this Saturday, and that is true of today. He said he'd prepare his team to play in two days if called to."

The idea that different people have pitched is for Miami to play Vandy in Hawaii for what would amount to a College Football Playoff play-in game.

The logistics are probably impossible, or next-to-impossible, at this point.

But the premise is cool. Why not take every chance you can to get into the CFP? The committee couldn't turn down either the Commodores or Hurricanes with an additional top-20 win on their resume.

Just because these teams didn't get into conference championship games doesn't have to limit them from playing on Saturday. They'd just have to travel quite a distance.
