Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia hits Heisman pose: What to know about Pavia's celebration against LSU image

Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia has made a lot of noise in his final season of college football, and today against No. 10 LSU, he added more fuel to the fire.

On Saturday's win against the Tigers, Pavia hit the Heisman pose after a 21-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to put Vanderbilt up 31-21. Pavia has had an exceptional season so far as the Commodores have already clinched bowl eligibility.

As the star quarterback continues to lead the No. 17 Commodores to one of the most successful seasons in program history, here's what to know about Pavia's Heisman odds.

Why did Diego Pavia strike Heisman pose?

Pavia has been one of the better quarterbacks in college football, and in a huge, emotionally charged game, he delivered. His rushing touchdown to put LSU up 31-21 was his second on the ground of the day, and he struck the Heisman pose after.

Since Pavia arrived, Vanderbilt has had ranked wins over No. 1 Alabama and No. 11 South Carolina. Clark Lea's squad won a bowl game last season in Pavia's first year in Nashville. He now has 13 wins as the Vanderbilt starting quarterback. Before Pavia's arrival, the Commodores had 12 wins total from 2019 to 2023.

Vanderbilt already has a ranked win this season over No. 11 South Carolina, and its one loss is to No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Is Diego Pavia a Heisman candidate?

Pavia has generated buzz due to his strong play and the team's success. He has been accumulating strong statistics, especially early in the 2025 season.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Pavia is listed as +2500 to win the Heisman. He currently sits outside the top 10, though, that could change with more star performances.

Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Alabama's Ty Simpson are tied for the favorite at +240.
