This isn't going to happen, but it's just about the most fun college football loophole ever.

So it's worth a quick examination: Vanderbilt and Miami could play a 13th game this week, in Hawaii, to try and ensure the winner makes it into the College Football Playoff.

Vandy and The U might both be just on the outside looking in when the final rankings come out after conference championship week. And they've got nothing they can do about it, given they aren't playing in a conference title game.

Other teams can still improve their resumes. The Commodores and Hurricanes just sit and wait.

A poster on the Vandy 247Sports message board, though, has suggested the Hawaii plan.

By NCAA rules, teams can only play a 13th regular season game if it takes place in Hawaii or Alaska, thus the choice of locale.

And the reasoning for the matchup here is that one of these teams would add a top-25 win, giving a resume that the committee couldn't pass up.

And could you imagine the attention on a game like this thanks in large part to the novelty? It'd also essentially be a play-in game to the CFP, which would be high drama.

Plus, it'd be another chance to see Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia play in a big game.

Seems like a good idea to us.
