UNC's Bill Belichick appears to still have major beef with the Patriots image

If you're wondering if Bill Belichick still has a grudge against the New England Patriots: It sure seems so.

A new report indicates that North Carolina's head football coach, in his first year at the college ranks, has put an odd ban in place against his long-time NFL team.

John Middlekauff of 3 And Out has reported that Belichick has banned NFL scouts from attending UNC practices.

If true, that's wild.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio writes that he confirmed the news with the UNC football general manager Mike Lombardi.

Florio is not a fan of the decision at all.

"It’s a stupid move, a reflection of his infantile pettiness regarding his former employer," Florio writes. "Belichick’s biggest selling point is that he can get college football players ready to play in the NFL. So why would he stop any NFL team from properly evaluating North Carolina players?"

He's got a point.

If a recruit could go to a program which will host all 32 NFL teams on campus at any time, why go to the one that'll only bring in 31?

Especially when in an alternate reality where Belichick is still friends with the Patriots, that'd actually be a helpful relationship for setting up contracts to the next level.

It doesn't quite make a lot of sense, and maybe the ban won't last after there's some backlash.

It's certainly not a helpful look after a 48-14 season-opening loss to TCU. Seems like the focus should be on getting the team better and not on worrying about who is watching.
