Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby confirmed he has entered the transfer portal, becoming one of the top veteran quarterbacks seeking a new start this offseason.l

Sorsby returns to the portal after two productive seasons, first at Indiana and most recently at Cincinnati. In 2025, he completed 2,800 yards passing with 27 touchdowns and added nine rushing scores, adding to his reputation as an efficient and dynamic quarterback in the Bearcats’ offense.

Originally committing to Indiana out high school, Sorsby transferred to Cincinnati in 2024 and immediately earned the starting job. The 6-foot-3 dual-threat from Denton, Texas led in both the passing and rushing games. His 2025 campaign earned him semifinals consideration for the Davey O’Brien Award and recognition as one of the most experienced quarterbacks on the portal market.

Several schools have already surfaced as potential fits, with Power Five programs expressing early interest. According to On3's Pete Nakos, Texas Tech is a school to watch. If Fernando Mendoza does bolt for the NFL after the College Football Playoff, Sorsby could also transition back to Indiana.

Despite stiff competition from other transfer quarterbacks, Sorsby’s combination of experience, athleticism and production could make him a key piece for teams looking to boost an offense.

With the transfer window officially opening Jan. 2, his decision highlights what is shaping up to be a busy offseason for quarterback movement.
