Texas defeated Texas A&M at home the day after Thanksgiving, but the Longhorns fell short of making the 12-team field in the penultimate playoff rankings released Tuesday. Some arguments could favor the Longhorns being ranked higher in the final rankings on Selection Sunday, but those would require losses from top teams. The Longhorns entered the final week of the regular season looking to strengthen their playoff resume. Still, the crowded national field and tight competition among the top-15 programs left them just outside contention at No. 13.
Selection Sunday will finalize the 2025 playoff bracket and full bowl lineup and is set for Sunday December 7, on ESPN at 11 am.
