Losing to Texas might have stung for Texas A&M, but the Aggies’ College Football Playoff hopes remain very much alive.

The 27-17 defeat to the Longhorns on Friday cost A&M a spot in the SEC Championship Game and a first-round bye in the expanded 12-team playoff, but it didn’t derail the program’s postseason ambitions.

Texas A&M (11-1) is still firmly in position for a playoff berth, likely hosting a first-round game at Kyle Field depending on next week’s final CFP rankings. For a team that’s built momentum under coach Mike Elko, the setback in Austin appears to have damaged pride more than playoff positioning.

While missing out on Atlanta hurts, the Aggies remain among the SEC’s strongest playoff contenders. A home matchup in the opening round could offer a chance for redemption and a path to reignite their season on the national stage.

Selection Sunday is slated for December 7 with a live broadcast on ESPN beginning at 11 am.
