Blowouts happen in college football.

Sometimes a juggernaut program plays a lower-ranked team and just dominates them from the opening whistle to the final, and you just hope that the worst team comes away healthy and not too embarrassed. If you're the team that got blown out, you also hope that your game is sandwiched between a powerhouse schedule so that the number of fans that see your loss is kept to a minimum.

North Carolina came into the 2025 season with way too much hype. Legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick was at the helm, the university had its biggest NIL budget ever, and the new coach brought in 70 new players to the program. Many fans were expecting great things from the program over the course of the season, and it started with a season-opening home game against TCU on Labor Day in primetime.

The Tar Heels didn't spare any expense making Belichick's coming-out party feel like a massive deal. UNC greats from a range of its sports were in attendance, including Michael Jordan, Mia Hamm and Julius Peppers. TCU truly felt like a stepping stone, even though the Horned Frogs were favored by 3.5.  

In front of a packed Keenan Stadium and the world, TCU put an absolute whooping on UNC that caused the home fans to leave in the third quarter. The Horned Frogs won 48-14 on the field, but the victories continued to roll in as the social media team took to X/Twitter after the game and continued throwing haymakers.

Here is how TCU's social media account expertly trolled UNC after a dominant win.

Whoever runs the social media account for TCU's football team deserves a raise and then some. The Horned Frogs put on a clinic on how to deliver receipts on X after a win and didn't say anything crazy about future opponents. Usually, after a big win, players will call out their biggest threat in their conference, but TCU didn't go after Arizona State; instead, it focused all of its efforts on picking apart UNC and its history.

The Horned Frogs channeled Taylor Swift and, after the win, posted a montage of clips that either featured frogs, analysts hyping up Belichick, or the former Patriots coach crashing out.

If you come for TCU, you better not miss

All day leading up to the game, TCU was getting trolled on social media because fans and analysts were expecting big things from Belichick's debut. The Horned Frogs social media team made sure to find their favorites and quote-posted them throwing them back at the original accounts.

Deadspin left for dead

The social media account for Deadspin posted ahead of the game that Belichick will be making his return to coaching that day, with the clever caption of "babe wake up, Bill Belichick coaches college football today." TCU let "babe" know that they can go back to sleep.

The UNC TCU Show

Documentaries about teams are all the rage. Whether it is "Hard Knocks" in the NFL preseason, or Netflix's docuseries about the 2024 SEC with "Any Given Saturday," fans want to tune in for a behind-the-scenes look at teams. 

With Belichick in tow, "Hard Knocks" wanted to do a series about UNC, but it was shot down thanks in large part to Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson. Then, Belichick announced in the week leading up to the team's first game that they would be part of a documentary being done in partnership with Hulu. We don't know if it will be a recap of the season and drop sometime next spring or if it will be episodic.

TCU is very curious about the release date, though, and will likely have the first episode bookmarked and DVR'd. 

What do you mean Skip Bayless had a bad take?

While many people on the internet sent insults TCU's way, Bayless took an interesting approach. He said that the Horned Frogs would get blown out, but referenced the fact that it would be because of "MJ, LT. About to get mossed." In Bayless' eyes, UNC would surely win because of a retired NBA player and two retired NFL players who were in attendance. (It is worth noting that Randy Moss didn't go to UNC for college, but he played for Belichick in New England.)

Even though TCU was favored by 3.5 on the road, Bayless was sure that it'd get blown out. There certainly was a blowout, but it didn't go the way Bayless predicted. The TCU social media team responded with a GIF of ESPN's Stephen A. Smith laughing, which was *chef's kiss.*

A reminder not to victory lap too early

UNC's opening drive went perfectly. Gio Lopez led the Tar Heels down the field, and running back Caleb Hood capped off the drive with an eight-yard touchdown. It looked like the Belichick experiment was an instant success, and sports analyst Colin Cowherd didn't need to see anything else, saying that from one drive he had Belichick "as the second best college coach I've ever seen, just below Saban." 

UNC's quarterback wouldn't complete another pass for over two hours, the Tar Heels didn't score again until there were 29 seconds left in the third quarter, and TCU scored more points than any opponent ever had facing Belichick.

Will the real LT please stand up?

Lawrence Taylor is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. He is known mainly for his 12-year career with the Giants where he won two Super Bowls, was the 1986 MVP and was the Defensive Player of the Year three times. With an illustrious pro career, many forget that LT went to North Carolina. 

TCU has an LT of its own in its notable alumni group, Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

Looking ahead

TCU didn't call out any future opponents on this year's schedule, but they did take the time to remind everyone that it is the first game of a two-game series between these teams. The Horned Frogs and Tar Heels will meet up next season in Dublin, Ireland for Week 0.
