The Syracuse Orange just stumbled and bumbled through a 3-9 college football season.
The worst news of all may have just arrived on Wednesday, which is national early signing day.
Five-star recruit Calvin Russell, a wide receiver has been committed to SU since July.
But on Wednesday, Russell chose not to sign just yet.
This is the news from Syracuse recruiting reporter Mike McAllister:
5-star WR Calvin Russell, a Syracuse verbal commit, said at the Miami Northwestern NSD ceremony that he's not signing today. That is not a great sign for the Orange.

Russell is a 6-foot-5 wide receiver, a physical monster on the perimeter.
When he committed to Syracuse, he said this:
“It’s about trusting the process and finding the right people to grow on and off the field with. I’m thankful for everyone who’s been part of this journey, and I’m ready to work and give everything I got to Syracuse. This is the next step toward what I’ve been working for my entire life.”
Russell's other three finalists at the time of his choice: Michigan, Florida State and Oregon.
Now, it appears every possibility is open. Syracuse fans, and college football fans around the country, will wait to see what Russell does next.
