Oklahoma's 2027 recruiting class just got more powerful in the trenches thanks to a flip commitment.
On Sept. 25, Hayes Fawcett from On3 revealed that 5-Star OL Cooper Hackett has flipped his commitment from Texas Tech to Oklahoma.
Hackett is from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He is rated the No. 1 player in Oklahoma and the 11th-ranked player in the nation according to On3. He had been committed to the Red Raiders since Aug. 30. He was supposed to be a key piece for Texas Tech in building a strong offensive line.
Hackett had taken two visits to the last two Sooners home games since initially announcing his commitment to the Red Raiders. With this commitment, Oklahoma jumped to No. 2 in the On3 class of 2027 team rankings.
Hackett told Rivals that the NIL money is not the same amount as what Texas Tech was offering.
“It’s a good chunk less,” he said. “If I’m in the NFL, which is what I want to do overall, that money is not going to matter and I’m going to bet on myself a good amount of the time and that’s what I’m doing.”
With Hackett's 6-7 frame, he will provide much-needed support to the Sooners' offensive line.
Big win for Oklahoma HC Brent Venables and the team to keep an in-state 5-star recruit home.
