When Michigan heads to Lincoln on Saturday, the Wolverines will enter one of the most challenging atmospheres of the season. Memorial Stadium is expected to be packed as Nebraska seeks its first victory over a ranked opponent in nearly 10 years.

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt broke down the matchup on The Joel Klatt Show and voiced confidence in Michigan’s ability to win on the road.

Klatt pointed to the Wolverines’ dominance on the ground and questioned whether Nebraska’s defense could hold up.

The Cornhuskers have struggled in marquee games for years, dropping 27 straight contests against ranked opponents. Klatt believes that trend is unlikely to change this weekend. With Michigan favored by 2.5 points, he forecasted a decisive outcome.

“I think Michigan covers this game. I see something along the lines of 34-21, something like that. I think Michigan goes on the road with the familiarity of being on the road and they get the win,” Klatt said.

Nebraska’s run defense, once a team strength, has regressed. The Cornhuskers ranked among the best in the country last season, but after losing key defensive tackles, they have slipped to 75th nationally.

Klatt warns Nebraska’s run defense faces major test

Klatt highlighted the timing of the drop-off as particularly dangerous with Michigan’s punishing rushing attack up next.

“This year they lost those defensive tackles and so they are not as stingy against the run. That is a problem when you’re welcoming in Michigan who you know is going to try to assert themselves physically in the run game,” Klatt said.

Alabama transfer Justice Haynes has powered the Wolverines with three straight 100-yard rushing performances. Even with some injuries up front, Klatt said Michigan’s physical style is well suited for the road test.

“So what do I like in this game? I think Michigan covers this game… I think Michigan goes on the road with the familiarity of being on the road and they get the win.”

Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood adds a dual-threat dimension. He ran for 114 yards and scored twice on the ground in last week’s win over Central Michigan.

Interim coach Biff Poggi remains in charge while Sherrone Moore serves his suspension. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
