Missouri’s season took an unexpected turn in the very first game. Starting quarterback Sam Horn suffered a right leg injury during Thursday night’s 61-6 blowout win over Central Arkansas and is now out indefinitely, according to multiple reports.

Tigers’ quarterback situation shifts early in 2025

Horn went down on a short 6-yard scramble in the opening quarter and did not return. He was taken to the locker room for evaluation and later spotted on the sideline using crutches with a brace on his leg. The junior underwent an MRI on Friday, and the program is still waiting for further medical updates before setting a timetable for his recovery.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz had planned to rotate quarterbacks to open the year, splitting snaps between Horn and senior Beau Pribula as the team looked to settle on a long-term starter. That plan quickly shifted once Horn was ruled out.

Pribula handled nearly all the offensive work after Horn’s injury and made the most of it. He connected on a 49-yard strike to Marquis Johnson for the Tigers’ first touchdown and finished the night with 283 yards and two scores on 23-of-28 passing.

Missouri rolled easily over Central Arkansas, but the bigger story was the quarterback depth chart. Losing Horn leaves the Tigers with little margin for error as they prepare to enter the heart of their schedule.

The program has not given an official update on Horn’s long-term outlook, but it’s clear Missouri will lean heavily on Pribula moving forward until more is known.
