Is Jason Candle coaching today? Explaining Toledo's staff for Boca Raton Bowl after UConn hire image

The Toledo Rockets cap off another strong season on Tuesday when they play in the Boca Raton Bowl against the Louisville Cardinals.

This year, though, bowl season has been a season of shakeup for Toledo, which had featured a lot of consistency in recent years under head coach Jason Candle.

Candle took a new job since the regular season ended: He's going to be leading the UConn Huskies in 2026.

That leaves Toledo in a tricky spot heading into the bowl game.

Is Jason Candle coaching today?

No, Jason Candle is not coaching Toledo on Tuesday in the Boca Raton Bowl.

He's gone for UConn.

The interim head coach is Robert Weiner.

The Rockets have also lost multiple other coaches to new hires.

Guys that are still around include wide receivers coach R.J. Fleming, running backs coach Nate Cole, and tight ends coach Derek Sage.

Defensive coordinator Vince Kehres left for Syracuse.

Weiner was the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before taking the interim tag.

On the other side, Louisville has a bit of potential drama as head coach Jeff Brohm has been linked to Michigan, but for now, Brohm is still leading the Cardinals.
